Working with no signal in the crew app
The crew app keeps working in a basement or a dead zone. See what saves on the phone with no signal, what needs a connection, and how to tell when everything has synced.
Applies to: Crew, Subcontractors, on the phone app. Last checked 2026-10-17.
You don’t need a signal to keep working. What you do with no signal saves on your phone and goes up on its own when you’re back online.
What works with no signal
- Opening your jobs. You see them as they were the last time the app loaded them.
- Starting and stopping the timer
- Adding time by hand, and deleting an entry that isn’t billed
- Adding notes and note photos
- Adding an expense (without a receipt photo)
- Marking a visit complete
What needs a connection
- Seeing new visits the office has put you on
- Pausing and resuming the timer
- Changing a time entry
- Changing or deleting a note
- Receipt photos on an expense
- Field sales: creating a job, saving an estimate or invoice, approving, issuing and taking payment. The draft you’re building is kept on the phone until you have signal.
Check that everything saved
The top of each screen shows where things stand:
- Offline: you have no signal. Keep working.
- Waiting to save: the number of changes on your phone that haven’t gone up yet.
- Saving…: they’re going up now.
When the waiting count is gone, everything is saved.
If the office changed the same thing while you were offline, the office’s version is kept.
If something can’t save
If a change keeps failing, the top of the screen says it can’t sync. Tap it to see the list. For each one, tap Try Again or Discard.
