Complete visits and jobs

Mark a visit or a whole job complete, see when a job closes on its own after its last visit, what happens to unbilled time and empty upcoming visits, and how to reopen a job.

Applies to: Owners, Admins, Crew, Subcontractors, on the web and the phone app. Last checked 2026-10-18.

You complete work at two levels. A visit is complete when that trip is done. A job is complete when all the work is done.

Complete a visit

If the job has a preset invoice template, completing a visit creates a draft invoice from it. Nothing is sent. You review the draft and send it when you’re ready.

Crew members and subcontractors complete visits, not jobs. In the crew app, they tap Mark Visit Complete on the job. If their timer is running, they stop it first.

On the web

To complete a visit, open the visit’s menu on the job’s Visits card and choose Mark Complete. You can also click the visit on the calendar and choose Mark Complete.

To complete the whole job, open it and choose Mark Complete, then Complete Job.

On the phone

To complete a visit, tap it in the job’s Visits section and set its Status to Complete. You can also tap the visit on the calendar and choose Mark Complete.

To complete the whole job, open it and tap Mark Complete, then Complete Job.

When a job closes on its own

A job that doesn’t repeat closes itself when its last scheduled or in-progress visit is completed, whoever completes it. Skipped and canceled visits don’t count.

If you then put one of its visits back to scheduled or in progress, or add a new visit, the job opens again.

A repeating job never closes on its own. Complete it yourself when the work ends.

Completing a job yourself

If the job has time logged that isn’t on an invoice yet, FieldFlow asks first. Choose Invoice Hours First to bill it, or Complete Without Invoicing to leave it unbilled.

Completing a job clears its empty upcoming visits from the calendar: scheduled visits that start after today and have no time, notes or document on them. Today’s visits stay, and so does any visit with time, notes or a document, and so do repeating visits you’ve changed.

Reopen a job

Open a completed or canceled job and choose Reopen Job. The job goes back to open. The visits that came off the calendar when the job was completed or canceled come back if they end today or later. Earlier ones stay off, and so do visits you had canceled on their own. On a repeating job, the one-off visits you added come back the same way, but the repeating schedule’s own visits wait for Resume Recurring (see Repeating jobs).
