Why we built FieldFlow (and why it costs $19)
March 14, 2026 · 5 min read
FieldFlow started with a simple frustration: the tools that exist for small trades businesses are either too expensive, too complicated, or both.
The problem we kept seeing
If you run a plumbing, HVAC, electrical, or general contracting business with a handful of employees, your software options are pretty grim. You can pay $149/month for Housecall Pro and still not get expense tracking. You can use Jobber at $29/month but the moment you add a second technician, you’re bumped to $119/month. Or you can try to stitch together QuickBooks, Google Calendar, a shared spreadsheet, and prayer.
We talked to dozens of trades business owners. The same story came up over and over: “I know I should use software, but it’s either too expensive or I don’t have time to figure it out.”
Why per-user pricing is broken
Most field service software charges per user. That means you’re punished for growing. Hire a new apprentice? That’s another $29/month. Bring on a part-time helper for summer? Another seat fee. It creates a perverse incentive to keep your team small or to share logins, which defeats the whole point.
We wanted FieldFlow to be the opposite. One price. Your whole team. No surprises on your credit card statement.
Why $19/month
We did the math. A solo plumber doing 15 jobs a week at $350 average generates roughly $270,000 a year. Spending $468 a year on software that saves them 5 hours a week and helps them get paid faster is a no-brainer. But spending $2,000+ a year on Housecall Pro with add-ons? That’s a harder sell when you’re watching every dollar.
$19/month is low enough that it pays for itself after a single invoice gets paid a few days faster. And it’s high enough that we can build a sustainable business without venture capital pressure to raise prices.
One app instead of ten
The other problem we saw was fragmentation. Business owners were using one app for scheduling, another for invoices, another for payments, and a spreadsheet for everything else. Data lived in five different places. Nothing talked to each other.
FieldFlow is one app. Schedule a job, track time on it, generate the invoice, collect payment, and see it in your books. All in the same place. All offline-capable because we know you’re working in basements and attics, not corner offices with perfect Wi-Fi.
What’s next
We’re a small team and we ship fast. If you’ve been putting off switching to real software because the options felt too expensive or too complicated, give FieldFlow a try. Fourteen days free, no credit card required, and you can always reach a real person if you need help.
